Some 5V AC power adapter is designed for charging your cellphone and has bad ac noise.
It will introduce humming or clicking noise for the audio.
You can lower cell2jack"s "off hook power" to reduce the noise.

Lower power consumption (reduce ac couple noise):
Press 72# from the home phone keypad while off hook to cut "off hook power" (you should hear an acknowledge tone after enter the keys) then power down/up.
Increase power consumption (to drive old mechanic phone):
Press 74# from the home phone keypad while off hook to increase "off hook power" (you should hear an acknowledge tone after enter the keys) then power down/up.
Note:
70# -74# : Off hook voltage: Power provides to your phone. Default is 71#, 72# is min, 74# is max (Preferred): Using Windows 10 PC. Click here for instruction.
